Fourth Annual Ride to End HungerThe annual Ride to End Hunger is a charity motorcycle ride that benefits the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen of New Haven, CT. The money raised through the event enables DESK to continue its mission of feeding the hungry in the greater New Haven area. The third annual Ride to End Hunger will take place rain or shine on Sunday, September 13, 2009. About the RidePreregistration opens in June at the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #25 (203-772-3557, 524 State St, New Haven). On-site registration for the ride will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Sports Haven (600 Long Wharf Drive, located off I-95) parking lot in New Haven with free coffee and donuts, plus music by Sounds Unlimited. Registration for a single rider is $25, double riders pay $35, and non-riders pay $10 (all registration fees include the BBQ rib lunch). The Ride will start from the Sports Haven parking lot at promptly 11:00 a.m., finishing police-escorted 62 miles later at the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #25 (524 State Street, New Haven). After the ride, there will be festivities with a BBQ rib lunch, a cash bar, and a huge raffle at Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #25. Not a Biker?Even if you won’t be riding, join us for the BBQ rib lunch at 1:00 p.m. to support DESK! Starting at Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #25 at 1:00 p.m., there will be a tantilizing BBQ rib lunch, exciting raffles, flashy motorcycles, and entertaining music, all of which will take place at a scenic overlook on the river. Registration at Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #25 for the BBQ rib lunch will be only $10, so come check out the bikes and enjoy the company as you support your local soup kitchen, the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen of New Haven. Event WearablesThe price for a t-shirt is $15, and pins will be only $5. Shirts and pins (from 2008 and 2009) will be available at the event only.
